Richardson 112 color combos and which to pick

The Richardson 112 comes in 100+ combinations and they all cost the same $13.50 blank. The choice is about your logo, your buyer and whether you are using leather or thread. Here is how Battle Born Clothing walks customers through it.

The three families

All at the same blank price.
FamilyWhat it isBest for
SolidFront, visor and mesh in one color (black, navy, charcoal, white, loden, red)Corporate and crew caps; cleanest look for embroidery
Two-toneFront and visor in one color, mesh in a contrast color (black/white, navy/white, charcoal/black)The classic trucker look; most ordered family
Tri-colorFront in one color, visor in a second, mesh in a third (loden/tan/white, navy/khaki/white, heather grey/dark green/white)Retail, breweries, outfitters; a leather patch on a tri-color sells

Pick by decoration

Leather patch

Natural or brown leather reads best on mid and dark fronts: loden, navy, charcoal, black, dark green, heather grey. On white or tan fronts a dark brown patch still works; natural leather disappears. Tri-colors with a tan visor pair naturally with a tan patch. If you are deciding between patch and thread at all, read embroidery vs leather patch on a 112.

Embroidery

Thread needs contrast with the front panel, not the mesh. A white logo on black, navy or charcoal is the safest. A dark logo on white, tan or heather grey is next. Avoid a red logo on a loden front or a navy logo on black; it sews fine but no one can read it at ten feet. We flag low-contrast combos on the proof.

Mixing combos in one order

You can split an order across combos at no charge as long as the logo stays the same. Tier pricing is by total quantity per style, so 24 black/white plus 24 loden/tan prices as 48 Richardson 112s. Thread color can change per cap color (white thread on black, black thread on tan) for no extra fee because digitizing is the same file.

Stock reality

Richardson stock at SanMar Reno and S&S moves. Popular two-tones are almost always in; some tri-colors sell out by midsummer. We check stock before quoting and suggest the nearest alternate if your first pick is short. If the combo matters more than the date, say so and we will wait for restock.

Our short list

  1. Black/white: the default. Works with every logo color.
  2. Loden/tan: the patch cap. Looks premium with natural leather.
  3. Navy/white: corporate-safe, reads well with white or gold thread.
  4. Charcoal/black: dark without being black; hides wear.
  5. Heather grey/dark green: retail favorite for breweries and outdoor brands.

Questions

Do camo 112s cost the same as solids?

No. Camo is the 112P or 112PFP, a different style with a higher blank price that we quote per job. Solid, two-tone and tri-color 112s are all $13.50.

Can we get a sample cap in two combos?

Yes. Order 12 (or fewer, priced at the 12-23 tier) split across combos.
