Leather patch on Richardson 112 and rope caps
Battle Born Clothing has made leather patches since 2020 on an OMTech 80-watt CO2 laser. We cut the outline, engrave the logo, and bond the patch to the cap with a proprietary heat process on a two-platen VEVOR hat press, or sew it on request. We aim to be the top leather patch hat maker in the USA, and the Richardson 112 is the cap we patch most.

Shapes and leather
The laser cuts any closed outline: rectangles, rounded rectangles, circles, ovals, shields, state shapes, or the silhouette of your logo. Engraving darkens the leather where it burns, so logos render as dark-on-tan. We stock natural and dark brown full-grain leather; other colors by request. Sharp vector art engraves best; fine halftones and tiny text wash out.
Glued vs sewn
Glued is our standard and what most crew, brewery and retail orders use. Our heat process bonds the full back of the patch to the cap. Sewn adds a visible stitch line around the edge, which some retail brands prefer for the look. Both are $1 apart. Read the embroidery vs patch guide if you are deciding between leather and thread.

Vector art (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG). Tell us the shape you want or let us propose one on the proof. Say glued or sewn, the cap style and color combo, and the quantity. We can also send a photo of a sample patch on your chosen cap color before you approve.
Questions
Does the center seam on a 112 show through the patch?
Not on patches under about 2.5 in wide. Wider patches go on the 112FP, 112PFP or 168, which have seamless fronts.
How long does a glued patch last?
Our heat bond holds through normal daily wear. We have patched caps this way since 2020. If a patch we bonded lifts because of our error, we redo it free.
Can you engrave in color?
No. Laser engraving burns the leather to a darker tone. For multi-color logos use embroidery, or a patch with a simplified one-tone mark.
